Career Education

Students are placed at the heart of our school and their education and career pathway are of paramount importance.  Consequently, Te Puke High School has invested considerable resourcing in career education.  We have four permanent teachers and two support staff dedicated to providing quality career education for every Year 9 to 13 student.

Our well resourced Career Education Department is located within our Student Learning Centre in the centre of the school campus.

The Te Puke High School Careers Department is regarded by the Ministry of Education as one of the best in New Zealand because it is leading the way in providing our students with Career Education,Gateway experiences, Trade Academy programmes and Youth Apprenticeship Scheme opportunities.  Our Careers staff of three full-time teachers and two administrators provide advice and guidance to all our students and their parents on:

  • Career information.
  • Career pathways.
  • Subject selection. 

In addition, our students are provided with a specific Career Education programme that builds from Year 9 to Year 13.

In the senior school we offer the following specialised programmes:

Students who intend to go on to university or polytech are provided with support to complete their applications to University/Polytech, Halls of Residences and Scholarships.
