About Us
Teaching @ Te Puke High School

Education throughout the world is undergoing major change. Most schools around the world, including New Zealand, were established in the 19th and 20th centuries to serve the needs of an ‘industrial age’ society. In contrast, life in the 21st Century is considerably different, in the way we live, the way we work, the technology we use and the quantity and quality of information available.

New Zealand secondary schools are being challenged to discard outdated 20th Century one-size-fits-all teaching practices. At Te Puke High School we are meeting this challenge by placing importance on personalising learning for each and every one of our 21st Century learners.  This means placing the student at the centre of everything we do.

We consider our students and staff are lifelong learners, who value their education as an asset for achieving their future potential.

We must continue to challenge the way we think about teaching and more importantly, learning. Within a supportive environment, our staff are challenged to continually improve their teaching practice.  Ongoing teacher professional learning and development focuses on improving student learning and achievement through:

  • Te Kotahitanga.
  • Professional Learning.
  • Effective Leadership.
